Why Volunteer??
The Baileys Crossroads Fire Department building and fire / EMS apparatus are owned by the department
and paid for by tax-free donations from the community. The direct result
of the time volunteer firefighters put in every year, combined with the
purchase of apparatus and ownership of facilities saves the county
millions of dollars a year in operating costs.
Administrative and Operational Volunteers who participate
at least 240 hours in one calendar year are exempted from
the County Tax on a vehicle that they use for traveling to
and from the station for the following year.
Operational Volunteers are entitled to free visits
to Fairfax County Recreation Centers.
